Participate in our executive elections for 2023-2024!

The following positions are currently being elected for the upcoming school year (September 2023 - April 2024)! Scroll down for each position’s description of the role and its responsibilities!

Interested in running for a position? To run in the elections, you must be a registered University of Toronto undergraduate student and you must submit your nomination by Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:59 PM EST. To submit your nomination, you must complete this Google Form. You will also be required to give a 1-2 minute speech explaining why you are best-suited for your desired position at our End-of-Year Meeting on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 6:00 PM. If you are unable to attend the Annual General Meeting and elections event on March 28 due to a prior commitment, we ask that you submit a written message at the same time you submit your nomination, which will be read on your behalf.

 

Open executive positions

President

Position Description

Responsibilities

  • Be eligible to cast votes at meetings of the Executive Committee, 

  • Oversee the operations, management, and success of the group, 

  • Serve as spokesperson for the group, 

  • Hold signing and financial authority along with the Treasurer, 

  • Preside over meetings of the Executive Committee and/or members, 

  • Ensure a transition of office from one year to the next, 

  • Coordinate the annual simulation, including the:

    • Application process, 

    • Orientation, 

    • Dissemination of informational material to participants, 

    • Pre-conference events, 

    • Two-day conference, 

  • Coordinate other group events, 

  • Be a liaison between the Office of Student Life, UTSU, and the group, 

  • Maintain a list of all registered members and their contact information, 

  • Record notes and motions for meetings, 

  • Handle official correspondence of the organization, 

  • Oversee and coordinate the Junior Executive Mentorship Program, 

  • Any other responsibilities that unexpectedly arise during the year will fall to the President. 

Commitment

  • Approximately 8-10 hours/week (will vary week-to-week depending on whether there is an upcoming event or not)

  • Attendance at all club events and executive meetings

VICE PRESIDENT

Position Description

Responsibilities

  • Be eligible to cast votes at meetings of the Executive Committee, 

  • Assume duties of the President in their absence, 

  • Ensure activities of the club comply with policies of the University of Toronto, 

  • Coordinate organizational recruitment efforts, 

  • Coordinate the annual simulation, including the:

    • Application process, 

    • Orientation, 

    • Dissemination of informational material to participants, 

    • Pre-conference events, 

    • Two-day conference. 

Commitment

  • Approximately 6-8 hours/week (will vary week-to-week depending on whether there is an upcoming event or not)

  • Attendance at all club events and executive meetings

Position Description

Responsibilities

  • Be eligible to cast votes at meetings of the Executive Committee, 

  • Maintain a list of group members, 

  • Maintain the group website and member contact list, 

  • Record notes and motions for meetings, 

  • Notify all members of general meetings 

  • Assist the President in responding to emails concerning related opportunities and students interested in becoming involved, 

  • Be responsible for organizing regular executive meetings. 

Commitment

  • Approximately 2-5 hours/week (will vary week-to-week depending on whether there is an upcoming event or not)

TREASURER

Position Description

Responsibilities

  • Be eligible to cast votes at meetings of the Executive Committee, 

  • Record all financial transactions of the group, 

  • Hold signing and financial authority along with the President, 

  • Maintain a budget of income and expenses, 

  • Advise members on financial position of the group, 

  • Prepare an annual budget for the group as well as budgets for specific events. 

Commitment

  • Approximately 2-5 hours/week (will vary week-to-week depending on whether there is an upcoming event or not)

  • Attendance at all club events and executive meetings

Operations Coordinator

Position Description

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all room bookings

  • Coordinate all catering requests

  • Assist the other elected officers with extra duties

Commitment

  • Approximately 2-5 hours/week (will vary week-to-week depending on whether there is an upcoming event or not)

  • Attendance at all club events and executive meetings

cOMMUNICATIONS dIRECTOR

Position Description

Responsibilities

  • Be eligible to cast votes at meetings of the Executive Committee, 

  • Run the social media accounts (e.g. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) to advertise the club Run the monthly newsletter, 

  • Coordinate the website, 

  • Create and execute an advertising plan so that all members of the community are properly informed, 

  • Run all external communications activities. 

Commitment

  • Approximately 2-5 hours/week (will vary week-to-week depending on whether there is an upcoming event or not)
